After a short lunch break we continue our investigations is back, this was always interesting, after all! Now we have decided to seek comparisons with our washing machine, the manufacturer continues to be the best.
We have seen in the fact that manufacturers purchase from other companies so they can sell at different prices by different names. But while the cheaper models have basic functions compared to more expensive models, the machines produced by the same companyhave the same quality of parts in them.
It made sense therefore to consider the main manufacturer because it was better to buy a quality product rather than a cheap product that had a lot of gadgets. If we were not careful we could pick a product with lots of features that we didn't really need but think that it was a good price so we might as well get it. If we spent the same money on a machine with less features, we were probably going to get a quality product with less features.
We knew that GE and Whirlpool are great manufacturers and we found out that GE make Hotpoint and RCA washing machines and Whirlpool make Kitchen Maid, Roper, Sears and Kenmore. We also knew that Maytag washers have a good reputation for being reliable and that the European machines made by Miele are also really great. We had some information to start with now but there were so many features to consider. We read some reviews but it was still hard to find the best rated washing machine and in all honesty that was not necessarily going to be the best one for my sister and her specific needs..
My sister started talking about what colour she wanted, common sense was telling her that buying a designer colour machine was going to be more expensive and no matter what its colour, it would not make it clean her clothes any better or make it last any longer or be any more reliable.
In the end she decided that buying the latest colour was probably not the best way to go - she would end up having to buy lots of other items to match it and it would more than likely be out of fashion next year! In the end she did say that if she could get a silver one that she liked, she thought that would be a sensible way to go and she would be really pleased because it would look great.
We also agreed that we had to make sure that she could get the machine repaired easily in case it did break down, no use tempting fate! Warranties seemed to be very similar, mostly all manufacturers give parts and labour for the first year but after that there was a lot of different deals. Seemed to us that some of the parts that had long warranties were probably going to last a long time anyway so as long as there was a twelve months warranty on all parts and labour, she would be happy with that.
We also rang a few local companies to see which makes they repaired and whether they carried parts for all the makes or whether there would be a delay waiting for them to arrive - there is nothing worse than being stuck without a washing machine for a week or more with the dirty laundry piling up all the while.
We also asked the ones that seemed to repair most makes if they charged a call out fee and how much they generally charged for a job. There was no guarantee they were being entirely truthful but we did make a few notes of the companies we liked and what they had told us. This was another way of deciding which manufacturer is best in our washing machine comparisons.
My sister had decided that she was not going to buy the cheapest possible machine, that was never her idea but she did want to ensure that she wasn't going to pay nearly as much as the cost of a new washing machine just to have a repair done.
Well, it looked like we were ready to hit the shops in the morning!
